About The Lay Teacher Training Program
The Lay Teacher Training Program is a two-year certificate curriculum designed for Sunday school and Bible study teachers and church leaders who are not engaged in formal seminary or college studies KBI uses an unconventional, structured program designed to provide the needed training and development to help teachers grow in knowledge, confidence, and skill.
Expected results
Teachers who successfully complete the two-year program will possess:
- Research skills to identify and utilize credible secondary spiritual references
- Strategies to systematically read, study, and interpret the Bible
- Proficiencies to teach interdenominationally
- Awareness of technologically effective teaching methods
- Techniques to teach an array of generations, with special emphasis on millennials
To receive the Lay Teachers Training Certificate, students must complete:
- Four quarters of online courses (totaling 8 courses)
- Two in-person or training sessions
Each course is six weeks and is comprised of one hour virtual class sessions each week. Each class is one hour online.
Elective courses are recommended but not required for certificate.
Courses are taught virtually via a variety of methods including telephone conference calls and webinars.

History of Major Denominations – April 27-June 1, 2021*
